Vietnamese American actress Kelly Marie Tran is the new star of Disney's animated "Raya and the Last Dragon," an original fantasy film that is heavily influenced by Southeast Asian lore and cultures. Raya will be an epic fantasy adventure with southeast Asian themes, set in a realm called Kumandra, described as "a reimagined earth inhabited by an ancient civilization".
Disney's 59th feature film “Raya and the Last Dragon” is rumored to be the next addition to the Disney Princess series. Not much is known about this film yet as it is set to be released March 12, 2021. This role is also one for the history books that was long overdue. Raya and the Last Dragon will be Disney Animation Studios' first film inspired by Southeast Asia.
Raya and the Last Dragon was originally scheduled to be released in the United States on November 25, 2020. However due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pixar's film, Soul took its November slot, delaying the film's release date to March 12, 2021.The release of Disney's Raya And The Last Dragon, which is set in Southeast Asia and written by Malaysian-born, United States-based screenwriter Adele Lim, has been pushed back to March 2021.
